Merciful Father,
The author of Hebrews tells us, “Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16 CSB)
Thank you for sending us your Son, Messiah Jesus, who was without sin and who took our sins upon himself. In the world, it is easy to fall into moral failure. The Devil knows our weaknesses and waits for the time when our defenses are down and we have turned our focus away from you, God, to disrupt our lives. Help us to keep our eyes focused on Jesus and lives connected with Holy Spirit to bring you glory, honor, and praise. May the world see that we are different and want to know why. Why in the midst of chaos and confusion, we are filled with peace and direction. Prepare us to witness in these moments to your great love for us. Please surround, strengthen, encourage, and protect the leaders of Compass Community Church and our families, the leaders of all your churches and their families, and all Christ-followers – from falling into moral failure and weakening our witness to you. And, when we do, give us courage to repent and return to you and bear witness to the forgiveness of sins you offer us through your Son. We place our faith, trust, and hope in Him. In Jesus’ name we pray through the power of Holy Spirit. Amen.
